“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God…” John 1:12
In the story of Esther, we find a scared and intimidated young woman who is faced with a serious decision. Esther had been chosen by an evil king to be his next queen. This king had already gotten rid of his first wife because she wouldn’t perform a dance in front of his guests. So Esther was put in a beauty contest, and the king chose her to be the next queen. As it turns out, another wicked man who was second in command in the king’s administration had decided he wanted to wipe all the Jews off the face of the earth. He was angry at one Jew named Mordecai for not bowing to him. Little did he know, Esther was also a Jew.
Esther was in a place of power and favor with the king and could potentially sway him from this plan to murder all her people. But when her uncle, Mordecai, asked her to try and reason with the king, Esther says “All the king’s servants do know that whosoever, whether man or woman, shall come unto the king into the inner court, who is not called (uninvited)…will be put to death.” (Esther 4:11) She called herself a “whosoever.”
Many times, we don’t remember who we are in Christ. We forget that we are a child of the King and let life’s challenges worry and torment our minds. Mordecai reminded Esther who she was. He says , “Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”
God wants you to know that you are not a “whosoever.” You are a part of God’s royal family. You are a chosen generation, and you can come boldly to the throne of grace. The King of Kings knows your name. You can have what other people can’t have, and you can ask for what other people can’t ask for because you are not a “whosoever.” Quit asking God for things as if you don’t have a right to go into His presence!
Esther asked the people to fast and pray, and decided to risk her life by approaching the king. Her faith ended up saving an entire nation. You may have some stuff that you need to trust God with. Don’t fall into a pit of worry and despair. Look to God and give it to Him. One day, you will look back and realize that nothing is impossible for God.
